 Notch
binding is a method of perfect binding, but the signatures are notched
on the spine in the folding process at Wrap-Ups. It is used for
high caliper paper and thin books. It can be used with coated or
un-coated paper.
Types of books that lead themselves to this style of binding range
from "coffee table" books to annual reports. The life span of these
books coincides with the inherent strength from this binding style.
This style also enables us to bind a book as thin as 28 pages.
The secret is in spine preparation, and this is why with Notch
Binding, Wrap-Ups must do the folding.
With Regular Perfect
Binding (Traditional binding), the customer supplies Wrap-Ups
with the folded signatures. We will do any type of folding for
Notch Binding or flat press sheets.
WARNING! Prolonged storage
at high temperature or below freezing, will affect the strength
of bound product!
